Queen's Award
On the 21st of April 2012 Plant Parts Ltd., specialists in Komatsu
parts and excavator final drives for the construction machinery
trade, were granted the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for a second
year in succession. The Queen’s Awards are the highest honour
available to a UK firm and Plant Parts have won in the category for
international trade. “We are thrilled to be honoured in this way
again” said Director Robert Finch, “The Company is benefiting from
investment in infrastructure and first-rate people.” Fellow Director
Richard Finch agrees, “We have bucked the trend in these difficult
times by staying true to our belief that good product knowledge &
fast parts availability is the key to success. Having doubled our
stock of excavator final drives over the last three years and
introduced new IT systems we are confident that our customers, both
home and abroad, will receive the best possible service, from
initial enquiry to after sales support.”
History
The business began trading in 1991 and quickly found its niche
supplying Komatsu parts and repairing excavator final drives. In
1995 it moved to larger premises and changed status to a limited
company. Now occupying purpose built offices, warehousing and
workshops of almost 12,000ft the company is well placed to meet the
needs of its customers and has a reputation for first-rate product
knowledge and parts availability.
Success
Plant Parts has invested heavily in product and customer support
IT systems enabling it to provide an industry leading service to
customers and the company puts much of its award winning achievement
down to the availability of product data. “Our sales and support
staff have the tools to give our customers the answers they need
instantly” said Mr Robert Finch, IT Director at Plant Parts, “Many
of our customers call us for parts in a breakdown situation and they
need to know “when can I have it and how much”. Our staff can
usually answer those questions without the need for a call-back, we
believe good customer service is the key to success.”
Since the award assessment period the company has grown further
continuing to double sales every three years.
Exporting
Plant Parts Ltd have been granted The Queen's Award for
Enterprise in the category for International Trade reflecting the
Company’s growth in exports. During the award assessment period
Plant Parts traded in over 100 countries. The top 5 markets are
Europe, North America, sub-Saharan Africa and Australasia.
Managing Director Mr Richard Finch said of the award, “I am
delighted for the whole team; this award is testament to the hard
work and commitment of everyone at Plant Parts.”
